I’ve been watching a youtube let’s play of X-Com Enemy Unknown by a player I’ve been following for his Sim City videos.

Skye Storme recently bought X-Com Enemy Unknown and wanted his subscribers to submit names for characters that will be featured in his play through. Naturally, I submitted mine.

Well, he had randomly selected the legendary Cindy Ames as one of the characters! Although she ended up being Canadian, it was really awesome to see Cindy running and gunning down aliens with someone else behind the wheel. She quickly moved up in the ranks and was one of the most reliable soldiers Skye Storme had on his squad. If there were aliens that needed to be killed and there was a slim chance a shot could be made, Cindy could do it.

She lived up to her name as the Silver Ninja and survived debilitating injuries, killed over a dozen aliens, and pulled through in a pinch when the team needed her most.

Her team leader Skye Storme (character of the same name) died on a civilian rescue mission and Cindy ended up taking on the mantle of team leader. She led her team through UFO excursions and took point into dangerous territory, putting her own life on the line so that her teammates didn’t walk into a trap.

Sadly, on June 14th 2014 Cindy was ambushed by 3 mutons and was promptly executed by their plasma rifles.

Unfortunately, this also means that because Cindy didn’t survive until the final mission. The free book giveaway of The Silver Ninja is no longer available.

I’m still going to watch Skye’s let’s play until the very end and I’m very proud of what Cindy had accomplished during her time there. If Skye chooses to retry the challenge on a different difficulty, I will be there watching with bated breath.
